George Chen, Venture Partner

Mr. Chen is a serial entrepreneur and manager in the consumer sector. He was born in Hong Kong, naturalized in the United States, and has spent the last 20+ years in China (including Hong Kong) on several successful ventures.  After graduating from Boston University School of Management, he founded and built his first business in travel wholesale ticketing which he sold after 20 years. 

Thereafter, he moved to China to setup Hong Kong International, which exclusively licensed several quality beer brands for G. Heileman Brewery (owning brands such as Colt 45, Lone Star and Henry Weinhard) and distributed them across China and the Philippines.  He successfully sold the business to Asia Brewery in 1997, and became CEO of Tait Asia Limited (HK and China operations) to manage and grow several consumer brands including Durex, Philip Morris, Heineken, St. Dalfour, Unilever's Lipton RTD and Evian Water.  In 2003, he became CEO of Roly (China operations) to manage and grow Evian (who moved from Tait Asia to Roly to follow Mr. Chen), Mattel Toys (Barbie, Hot Wheels, Fischer Price), Disney children's clothes (largest licensee in Asia ex-Japan representing 50% of Disney's licensing income), Benetton, Elle.  Roly China was eventually sold to Li & Fung in 2007.

Since then, Mr. Chen has founded and is CEO of two related beverage business, namely China Distribution & Logistics (CDL) in 2007 and Branded Spirits in 2010.  CDL manages and distributes Evian, Bavaria NL beers, Pernod Ricard brands and Branded Spirits brands.  Branded Spirits is a developer and marketer for quality alcohol/spirits including Ice Fox Vodka, Hana Gin, Motu Rum, HM the King Scotch Whisky, Majeste Cognacs, Glen Oak Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Old Major Bourbon and Corralejo Tequila in China (including Hong Kong) and the United States

Mr. Chen is also currently Asian Advisor to Boston University's Dean of Business School.
